Korean Pop training is rigorous: K-pop band Z-Stars, which has 2 Indian musicians
The universally loved genre of K-pop has captivated millions of young enthusiasts worldwide. The increasing popularity of South Korean pop music is attributed to its unique blend of various international music styles with traditional Korean elements. This appeal has not spared India, where the fan base is growing so rapidly that two Indian musicians have become integral members of a K-pop band.
Z-Stars, the band in question, recently concluded a music tour in India. Comprising seven Z-Boys and Z-Girls selected through auditions from various Asian countries, including Indonesia, Japan, India, the Philippines, and Vietnam, the band aims to create a global musical ensemble that incorporates diverse languages and music styles. Debuting in February last year, Z-Stars is gaining popularity among K-pop enthusiasts.
In an interview with indianexpress.com, the band shared insights into their musical journey and the response received from their Indian fans. Here are excerpts:
**Q: How was your visit to India? Did you get a chance to visit tourist places and enjoy Indian delicacies?**
A: India was fantastic! The support and love we received were overwhelming. Although we couldn’t visit tourist spots, we indulged in various Indian cuisines, including butter chicken with naan, dosa, and intriguing tikkas suggested by Sid (Siddhant Arora, band member from India).
**Q: What kind of response did you get from the audience in India?**
A: The response was phenomenal! We were unsure about the reception in India, but at events like Vh1 Supersonic and Hard Rock Cafe, we met fans who sang along and knew our music. A special shoutout to our GalaxZ (Z-Stars fans) in India for their love and support!
**Q: Your band has members from several countries. How does that influence the kind of music you create?**
A: We’ve started learning each other’s languages and incorporating them into our songs. During a performance at Vh1 Supersonic, we sang “Tum hi ho” with Priyanka (Priyanka Mazumdar, band member from India). Our last song, “It’s Christmas!,” featured seven different languages. We aim to create more multilingual songs as we continue growing together.
**Q: Share your journey since auditioning for the band.**
A: Our journeys began with auditions, followed by training in South Korea as part of the rigorous K-pop training system. It has been intense but worth it. We’ve grown significantly and hope to keep improving.
**Q: K-pop involves rigorous training, strict diet, and discipline. How do you manage that? Can you give details of your training process and how it has helped you?**
A: The K-pop training system is rigorous, involving extensive dance and singing practice. Our diet is closely monitored, and we receive strong support. This system fosters growth while emphasizing the value of hard work. We’re grateful to our company (Zenith Media Contents) for their support.
**Q: Any future projects in the pipeline?**
A: Currently, we’re focused on our next singles, working diligently on new music that will be released soon.
